Scan Modes

Dr.Web Scanner supports three modes of running a virus scan.

You can click on the toolbar to adjust main scanning settings before scanning in any mode. To access all scanning settings, click Settings .

 

 

Express Scan

In this mode the following objects are scanned:

Random access memory
Boot sectors of all disks
Startup objects
Boot disk root folder
Disk root storing the Windows installation folder
Windows system folder
User documents folder ("My documents")
System temporary files
User temporary files

If scanning process is running under administrative privileges, then in this mode Scanner also checks if rootkits are present in the system.

 

Complete Scan

In this mode, random access memory and all hard drives (including boot sectors of all disks) are scanned. Scanner also runs a check on rootkits.

 

Custom Scan

This mode allows you to select objects for scanning: any folders and files, and such objects as random access memory, autorun objects, boot sectors, etc. To start scanning selected objects, click Start scanning.

When scanning starts, the Pause and Stop buttons become available. You can do the following:

To pause scanning, click Pause. To resume scanning after pause, click Resume.
To stop scanning, click Stop.

 

Pausing is not available when scanning processes and RAM.
